Thanks coach, now how much could it hurt me if I started a high Per guard with LP & Reb both under 5 at the SF in triangle/man?
the missing low post is negligible with solid big men. the rebounding always matters, but many of my most successful teams had terrible rebounders at the 3 and they were brutally effective nonetheless (this is particularly true with my triangle team, most of the times i won at SIUE was with a non rebounding guard at the 3). sometimes i would put a solid rebounder at the backup 3 spot to compensate but often i had two guards playing the 3 who would play sg on most teams and that was perfectly fine.
the one caveat is, i always made sure to make up for this with strong rebounding bigs above all else. in that day, you could get by without any real inside scoring. now, that is much less the case. so its a finer line to walk. you need strong reb but you also need a couple scoring bigs, so in the end, your big man defense will probably suffer.
