Is this message from a recruit a deal breaker? Topic

Hey Coach. Sorry I didn't take your call - I've been really busy lately. From what I know of the program, it may be something I'd be interested in, but I'd really like to learn a lot more about the school, conference and your coaching philosophy.

I'm at DII, and I've always avoided players that give the above message (it's always seemed like a blow off to me), so I'm wondering...is this message actually a deal breaker or can he still be pulled down by scouting trips? I'm really interested in this guy...and I'd love to know for the future. Thanks!

It means he's in ur division. You can recruit him straight up.

Durrrrr yeah, you're right....not sure why I said pull down. But how receptive to recruiting will this guy be with this message? Like I said I've always avoided this message thinking i'd be blowing money on the player.

He's definitely doable. Call him, do a scouting trip, call him again, offer schollie, and see where you stand for a home visit,

He should be receptive to your efforts

already had tossed one scouting trip his way, and from what i saw he seemed like a go (no "he's in our league" just the typical "a DII would be lucky to get him or he'll thrive in low DI"), and now you guys say it as well...so i'll go. Thanks

It might just mean that he has others looking at him too, but he is in your league most definitely

I'd only back off if A) he had previously been really on-board w/ going to your school and now seems to be cooling off and B) If it's late in recruiting and you don't have enough time or cash to change his mind.  Generally, no, that's not a dealbreaker.  Esp. if you throw more money at him.
