If a pitchers 5th pitch is his 3rd best pitch then why wouldnt that be his 3rd pitch?

It makes no sense.

Any way...

Will the pitcher use the 5th pitch more often then 3 & 4 since it is better?

Order of pitches is irrelevant, or so we've been told.

I'm still not sure I understand how pitch ratings work.  As I understand it, it's some average of the ratings with an effectiveness adjustment based on how many pitches.  Is that right?

What if a guy has pitches of 90, 80, 80, 45.  Why would he even use the last pitch?  Combining all of the ratings seems like a stupid way to do it.

From what I've read the odd lower pitch is what's called a "show me" pitch...Off balance stuff. Pitchers with multiple pitches over 80 and decent splits are some of the best in the game.  The higher pitch rating the more it is an "out" pitch.

How do you think this guy would project?

Splits 46/67
Stamina 76
Control 93
Vel  88
GB/FB 89
Pitches 99,81,49,70,46

I know the V. lefties is low but the other numbers are outstanding. Is it enough to make him respectable against lefties?

the 67 vs R is solid but not spectacular.  I lik his pitches and control though, and the high GB helps.  He should be a solid winning pitcher, maybe a 3rd starter type.
