I would want to get more out of my first baseman / DH.  But if you had no other options, you could do worse.

Career minor leaguer.

Though I'd consider bringing him up after roster expansion to be a power bat off the bench (pinch hitter) until he burned through all his options.  Discard him once you no longer want to use a spot on your 40 man for him.

That is exactly what I was thinking bringing him up at roster expansion for the next 3 seasons to rest a few guys then dump him. Or I coukd play him in the minors for the next 10 or so.

What about a higher vR, will that make for a productive MLer?

You must have some very agressive baserunning settings if that guy has 11 attempts..... But he can be a decent MLer if used only against righties.

I dunno, with that power and batting eye, he wouldn't totally kill you against lefties. I wouldn't actively seek out a guy like this for my majors, but on an AL team with a need for a power DH versus lefties, I think some of the other posters are understating his potential abilities.

Guerrero-- not an ML player.  He'll hit a loud .230 against LHP, but you can do better off the waiver wire or at the bottom of the FA pool at 1B/DH.

Cortes-- very interesting platoon player.  On a strict platoon (especially in the AL, where there are fewer pinch-hitting situations) you can get 85% of AB against RHP, I've done it.  And he hits RHP well enough that it's worth a shot.

That guy is a dime a dozen - best use would be to have him as a pure pinch hitter, power situations.  Especially considering your ballpark.
