Redshirting a non-freshman Topic

What should I expect if I try to redshirt a non freshman?  I have a log jam at one position, 3 solid juniors.  I was thinking about trying to redshirt one.  In your experience, what are the possible scenarios?

Most likely is the WE of the player redshirted will plumet(?) and he may leave if it goes low enough.  Done this before and that almost always happens.

Sometimes you'll get lucky, though.  I've had a senior accept a redshirt with no problem.

Also, if a player is already maxed out in major categories, does it matter much if his WE drops?   I'm not sure....

ive done it with success...but im not sure if it's because it was in my first year at a school and i inherited a team with 4 strong PG's 1 sr and 3 jrs...was able to get one of the jrs to redshirt without any WE drop
