Did He Really Just Do That??!?? Topic

This is probably not what you were all hoping to see, but in my whole HBD career I have never seen this, I actually also thought that we had previously been told it couldn't happen but here it is: BoxScore and look for Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Farmer Pickering

Yep, they updated the programming so that players with zero power homer occasionally now.  Not the first I've seen of this.

I know he's a .350 hitter so far this year, but why is he batting cleanup in your lineup?

injury to my starter the game before and I hadn't changed the line-up yet so he auto-subbed in there

The way I look at it is, a player with zero in any one rating doesn't mean they have no ability. Just means they will be on the lowest end of all the players in that rating.

I have a player with 0 contact.  He doesn't strike out every single time.  That is the first I'd heard of a 0 power hitting a homer though.  Until now I'd always thought it was impossible as well.

It was previously impossible before the latest update. I had a long back and forth with CS about it being impossible and how that was unrealistic. They ended up agreeing and made the change. I just hope it doesn't mean 10 HR a year for zero power guys. I'm just happy knowing it's a possibility. It all started when I noticed super fast zero power guys were hitting a bunch of triples and never an inside the park HR. For everyone's info, an inside the park HR is NOT any different than a regular HR as far as coding goes - it's just a different facade of the same event.

Here is the official word I got back a month ago about it:

We've reviewed the code and data and have made a minor adjustment to raise the floor a little bit. This will be out in the next update. You're not going to see guys with 0 power starting to hit a bunch of homers -- you're going to see them hit one a little more frequently than they currently do.

Must have been a REALLY windy day!!

Sounds like we can expect Juan Pierre-like power numers from those types, if not even a little less. I am fine with that. No one in the majors ever goes their whole career without hitting a few homers.
