I'm taking my first DI job (a rebuild) and am curious about a couple of things:

First of all, how much (if any) is my reputation effected by cutting poor players, especially walk-ons?

Secondly, and I hope this isn't a stupid question, but are there drop-downs at DI?  Yes, I realize there's nowhere for them to drop down from, but is it possible that players hoping for C or above prestige may "drop-down" and consider lower-prestige DI schools?

Many thanks.

1. Nothing as long as they weren't recruited by you

2. No, there isn't, but I would stick to players in the 550-600 overall range.

Actually, there are drop downs at DI.

They will be on your DI list the entire time, but if you have very low prestige, there will be some players that will initially give you the backup message that can be pulled down and/or may eventually drop down.

Be patient in recruiting, be willing to accept a walk-on or two in order to get a higher level of player.

You shouldn't be cutting walk ons, unless you offered them a 'shp when you got there for some reason and in that case it'd be a decent sized hit as they'd be players signed by you.
