Interesting final in DII Crum... Topic

A third year coach who had never had a winning record at DII until this season (his previous best season at DII is 9-18 and his overall best season was his only year in DIII at 16-15) is in the championship game as a 9 seed.  HIs team has a C- prestige (which is obviously about to get a lot better).  On his way to the final he has won 2 OT games and 2 more games in regulation by 2 points or less (the other win to get to the final was by 8), so he has been winning close games all the way to the final.  There is only 1 SR on his roster that was Sim recruited (that only plays 5.7 mpg), so he is doing it with his players.  If he wins this game he will have an overall record of 71-75 with a national championship.  Talk about cinderella...

Stories like that give struggling coaches (like me) some hope.

Who is this masked man and what school is he coaching? (And how do I look at Crum's NT bracket when I'm on Smith?)

Couldn't view the brackets, but just kept jumping to the winning teams in schedules until I reached the final.

can't be easy to get a path to the finals where you don't have to beat any top-10 RPI teams.

nonetheless, best of luck to him there.

I like his team. No real stars, but as a team they've led opponents in every category but FT% - not by a large margin, but just enough to win.

possumfiend is now my idol :)

We prefer the term "well balanced"!

Sometimes teams get favorable matchups, other times something just "clicks" in a coaches mind.  Maybe this is an instance of a coach "clicking".  Regardless, a fine run no matter what and best of luck to both teams in the Championship!

Absolutely.  We'll hold a spot in the Heartland for him when he gets to DII.

My team was one of the 2 point or less losses to Bowie St.  We lost to him by 1 after knocking of the 1 seed in our bracket (#4 when the game was played).

Crum DII's NT has been completely crazy.  3 #1 seeds got dropped in the first round, including #1, #4, and #10 (I think it was 10, he was the #2 RPI going into the tourney and he beat #1 in our CT after beating my 16 seed in OT).  Like I said, crazy.
