New GM trying to put trade value on a player Topic

He is a 23YO 2B    Edit Missing info -->    Pro years  5      ML years 0        Option years 2

I know his Dur hurts his over all value. I am just not sure how much. Another thing being new I never moved up my training from 13. So this off season he only went from a 69 --> 70. And one of the things I am getting is "He already stopped going up" And I am not sure if its the player or how my settings were.

This is one of the players I was offered.

I am not even sure what to think of this guy. I can tell he is a ML player. But from the looks of things. He seems like a guy I can find easy.  Seems like every team has one or two of these guys.

Any input on this would be great. Thanks

Decline.  The pitcher is actually pretty unique.  You don't see many 55/50 DUR/STM combos.   But, other than being capable of eating a lot of innings, he's nothing special.    Your guy(we need to know how many pro years to get a full reading on development) is a LF.   As a LF, he's nothing special either but he has more value, IMO, than the pitcher.

As Mike said, you're guy is a LF, so discount for that.  How many years has he been pro?  I'm assuming its been 4 years now, which is why you're getting the he's done growing comments, most guys don't improve much after year 4, some sooner.

Regarding the pitcher, what is your AS budget?  How many seasons has he been pro?  Was he drafted last year as a collegiate senior, or was he a high school draftee who's done growing?

I agree w/ Mike that your LF is the better player.  Of course he'll be playing less than 100% a lot, or riding the pine a lot.  The reliever could pick up a good number of innings out of the pen.  unfortunetly, if he's your best reliever, than your bullpen is a little weak.  You'll want your best relievers pitching a bulk of those innings, so in a good bullpen you won't see full value in his durability/stamina combo.

I'd only make the deal if your loaded w/ LF/1b types who are better than this guy, and you need relief help.

But for now, I assume he's cheap, and you may be able to get something better out of him later.  You can pick up relievers w/ skill sets like that pretty easy (maybe on the durability/staming combos, but certainly the pitch variety/splits/control skills).  Keep pimping him.  If you keep him healthy, their might be a team fighting for a playoff spot who has an injury or needs an extra bat bench for the stretch run who would be willing to give up a better relief prospect.

Your guy is a solid starting LF, before we account for the low DUR.  His guy is a rubber-armed reliever who should run up about a league average ERA; a very good 4th reliever but a 4th reliever nonetheless.

Find a way to rest your guy, and turn this down.

To me they are about equal, maybe a slight edge to the hitter.  If you are in a hiter's ballpark, I would keep the hitter playing him in home games and resting him on the road.  If you are in a pitcher's park I would trade for the pitcher and play him at home as much as possible and rest him on the road, especially in hitter's parks.
