I'm debating about recruiting a guy with a work ethic of 28.  He's got good potential and is pretty solid already.

How low is too low for Worth Ethic in your mind?  He wouldn't start until next year at the earliest.

28 is doable if he's considerably better than the next best option.

I wouldn't redshirt a guy with a 28 WE, but I wouldn't mind signing him as long as he will get some minutes freshman year.

Thanks for the feedback.  I ended up grabbing him yesterday so I'll post here how he does.  I'm going to try to get him playing time as a Freshmen and he'll probably start as a Soph.

I think WE is a lot like some other ratings for players - its value is relative to what you want a player to become and how fast you want him to get there.

This last cycle I recruited a guy with 13 WE.  His ATH, SPD, and DEF were all upper-60s to 70s already which is why I wanted him so much (I desperately needed a defensive upgrade).  I accepted his flaws, including his low WE, because he was already better defensively than anyone else on my team.  So It's not like a low WE was going to make him useless for me.

In most other cases, I subscribe to "the higher, the better" but WE must always be factored into Potential, too - a guy with 90 WE probably isn't going to become a 30ppg scorer if his LP or PER are under 10 with low/low potential, no matter how hard he works.

I just took a guy with 1 work ethic with Colorado in Phelan. At least he's 90 in most of the cores already. Stamina is gonna be a problem though.

That stamina's going to be lower every season.
