I'm sure it's been asked before, but I figured I'd get a fresh debate going.

What carries more weight...a ballpark's overall factor or individual attributes?

For example...Riverfront is -1, +2, 0, +1, +1...but the park factor is 0.90.

So will doubles and HR hitters thrive there, or will pitchers still dominate regardless?  In my experiences, it's the park factor that carries the most weight, but I wanted to get other people's opinions.

Only the individual attributes are figured into the decission tree.

Then what's the point of using a park factor? That means I could take Riverfront listed above thinking it's going to help my pitchers, and then get lit up

Yes.

Park factor just sums up whats going on. The average pitcher's ERA might be 90% of what it would be otherwise is what I get out of it. So it is useful. In this case, I believe its telling us that the singles factor might be -1.4 or so, and some of the plus factors were rounded up.

Its like in HBD, a players OVR isn't taken into consideration in determining an outcome, it just gives you an idea of the overall value.

How would you draft for Riverfront then?  Would you take more power hitters than singles hitters with speed?  Would this park change what type of pitcher you might draft?  Personally, for a park like Riverfront I don't know if I would draft much differently than I normally do. I'd still want a balance of speed and power.  I'd still want some innings eaters at SP who have a low HR allowed ratio.

For a park like Coors or new Yankee Stadium, however, I might load up more on guys who hit HRs.  A guy like Eric Davis or Mickey Mantle who hits with power but also runs might be a good fit at Yankee Stadium.

Riverfront is +2 for doubles so use it when you have a lot of doubles.
+1 HR so make sure your pitchers have reasonably low hr/9 numbers. you dont need an all-out power team just dont use Riverfront with no power.
-2 1b makes speed and walks slightly more important. it's most useful when you are concerned about fatigue. use a park like  riverfront when you might not have enough stamina.
That's what I look for, otherwise just pick the same good players you'd draft anywhere.

Coors isnt the best place for an unbalaced power team. power is most useful when you're in a pitchers ballpark with high HR ratings. at Coors there are plenty of ways to score.
