Love it.  And it gives us a "Tryout Camp" for position players.

Not disagreeing...yet...how do you propose to handle the "if the rookie league team is less than 28 players, AI starts signing" scenario?

Is it like coaches where they get the bottom of the barrel?

Does this help/hurt/indifferent to helping minors league maintainence?

I'd have SIMMY sign players for slack owners after the UDFA signing period was over.  Maybe the signing period is reduced to 36 or 40 hours so it can be done before RL starts.

Signs draft picks first then random players from the list of UDFA.  Maybe by draft order.   #1 pick gets 1, 33, 65 and so on from the alphabetized list of players.

I think it would help in that there would be options if someone screws up and doesn't draft enough position players.   Of course, if an owner is indifferent to minor league maintenance, nothing will change that.

Ok.

I like the 48 hrs part...maybe even 72...and I'd push the draft earlier to accomodate.

I would also make DITRs purely from this UDFA group. They don't have to all become stars...actually, the same distribution of bump that occurs now is fine...but that's where I'd put 'em. Maybe accomodate rounds 8 through 10 so they don't get ignored when offers are made.

Sounds fine by me.  I'd like to see the draft "pause" after the 1st round, 2nd round, and 5th round.  Give us a chance to re-rank remaining players should we choose, perhaps 24 hours b/w each pause, shorten up the period b/w when draftees are released and when the draft starts.

Since draft picks are so much more projectable, unlike real life you can draft for a specific position a little easier.  So say you've got a huge need for catcher, see 3 you'd love to have w/ your late first round pick and move all three up into your 25.  In the first round you get your top catcher (or 2nd ranked catcher) who looks like a strong every day guy after a little bit of development.  It would be nice to be able to rank things so that perhaps you can focus on landing a different spot if you so choose and move the other catcher(s) back a little in your rankings.

Making changes to the schedule seems to be the toughest thing to get WifS to do.   IOW, they won't do it.   IMO, many of these suggestions are ignored simply because people ask WifS to do what they have shown reluctance to do.  Changing the schedule is one of those things.  36 hours is 9 cycles.   Anyone interested in filling their minors with the "best" of the UDFA will find time to make an offer.   And, if they miss it, it's hardly the end of the world because they're won't be offering to what would have been player #350 coming out of the draft.

taz, that's been requested for several years.   I think the "pause" between rounds will, in fact, never happen.

Yea, I get that, except you're asking for a change in the draft to move it from 25 to 10, which is a change to all of the amateur draft logic (order, settings, results and maybe even prospects), a creation of an amateur draft offer sheet (which could be based on the IFA logic, but it's still new) and a change to the tryout camp (to accomodate all of the extras).

Other than budgeting, there is no cycle as short as 36 hours. If you're going to ask for it, let's ask for all of it.

Adding and subtracting is not changing.   WifS has just been very reluctant to change the schedule.   No idea why but I assume it's a programming issue.

Adding and subtracting is not changing might be the dumbest thing you've said.

Unlikely.  It doesn't even come close to "Let's all welcome deathinahole to world Cooperstown as the new owner of Oklahoma City".

Jeez.   I'll be more specific.
Adding a program and reducing the number of rounds is not changing a current program.

Ha! It was Salt Lake City!
Dumbass!

I rank every prospect I can see.  I figure if my 20th round guy ends up being a DITR, I want him to have the best chance of making something out of himself with a DITR boost.  It's pretty useless, but I do it anyway.
