I have a guy with WE =1.  If I give him some starts will it move up?  how much?  I've never sunk this low before....

Even with high/high potential he'll probably never see the deep end of 20 WE.  Unless his core ratings are already good, I'm not sure I'd keep him, and if I kept him I'm not sure how much I'd play him.

im pretty sure he's not gonna gain anything, even with start and 30min of pt.

Anything he gains will probably be lost during the off-season rollover.

If he starts all four seasons, he might make it to 5-10 WE by the end of his career. And that's just because he can't lose WE in the off-season. Avoid 1 WE unless he's good enough to contribute as is, and you don't care if he never gains another point. Also probably the best case scenario for IQ is reaching B+/B+, but maybe not even that.

understood - I liked his numbers as they were - and he is contributing - was just thinking about getting him a few starts in the hope that he might suddenly get some WE - I'm tired of waking him up at practice

generally speaking, the increase in WE is almost non-exsistant and even if you get it to 10, you'll not see any noticeable change in what he keeps in the offseason or IQ improvement to make the attempt to purposely increase WE worth your time.

so my .2 cents would be to never start this guy in hopes he'll sneak a WE point or two.  just play him as his skills and IQ dictate in your rotation.  if he's your best option, start him - if not, there's nothing wrong with him playing 20 MPG from the bench.  if he's got some HIGH/HIGH cores you like, you can pump those up with the most practice time and they will end up increasing overall in the end (minus the off season losses).  all things considered, i don't go below a 20 WE anymore.  those starts you might give him will pay more dividends to the guy with a better WE and the minutes are often better served going to someone who will be much better than this guy in 1-2 seasons.

I have a WE 1....kills me he has an 82 athleticism...Rebounding Defense LP and Ball handling all high. I just don't think I will be able to stick with him. He started his SO year 7 points below where he was his freshman year. I think I saw him in action tonight. I went to the UK/Miss St game...Renardo Sidney....out of shape, no hustle, didn't run the floor. Shame, kid could be a young Shaq but will probably drag that whole team down.

work ethic that low grows *really* slowly. would be surprised if you got to 10 before senior year, with a 1 work ethic player. you basically have to assume he is never going to get any better, no matter what you do. and that likely, he is going to get a little worse, particularly in stamina.

If a guy is 40 work ethic. Will his potential just be spread over the 4 years...chance of not reaching limit. Always read about really low we but not midrange. Would like some thoughts on mid range work ethic guys, thanks.

If you kept him, why wouldn't you play him?
