Question regarding playoff experience for minor leaguers.  Does it serve any purpose to play any of your legit major league prospects in the minor league playoffs?  If you have guys that have already gone through 4 progression cycles do you only risk injury by playing them in the minor league playoffs?

thanks

More playing time = more time to develop.  If they are fatigued I'd hold them back.  Otherwise you basically want them out there.

From FAQ of help section - Playoff experience is factored into a player's development progress. It affects a player's makeup rating which, in turn, affects all ratings during player development. For the most part it is a function of playing time, but making the playoffs does give a slight boost to the makeup rating.
So, for teams that make the playoffs vs. teams that don't there may be a slight boost to development because those players now have playoff experience.
If you ever have a question check the FAQ first. If I forget something or don't know something I always refer to this area to find the answer and it is usually there.

Some players get a 5th cycle of development during the playoffs.  I don't know if that has much affect on their ultimate final set of skills, but I'll always play my prospects in the minor league playoffs, attempt to advance as far as possible, move legit prospects up a level if the level above is still playing and their done, etc... Basically anything to get as much playing time as possible.

Some(like me) believe it requires x-amount of AB/IP to maximize ratings.   An extra 70 AB in the playoffs is akin to an additional 1/6th of a season.   If you think it takes 3 season for a player to be BL-ready, he's there half a season early if he gets 70 AB 3 times in the playoffs.

"It affects a player's makeup rating which, in turn, affects all ratings during player development." - that's the first time I've read something like this about the makeup rating. Interesting.
