explain +/- defense to me please Topic

So my next opponent has a really bad starting C/PF, my starters are far superior. He however has pretty good guards and a decent SF. I'd obviously like to take away the perimeter to force him to go inside, but is that the correct way of understand how a +3 setting would play out? Or would his guards still take more shots despite me playing +3 or even higher?

I also play a fastbreak/press and have noticed (although I've only played two games so far) my team committing lots and lots of fouls. i understand a press defense is more prone to fouling, but will I see less fouls if I play a + defense?

Any experience is helpful Thanks

Indeed, press gives up more fouls than usual. Going + generally lessens fouls than if pack it in.  Press used to be magic and have run it on most of my teams but gradually switched to man cause I was getting raped by fouls. But with the right players, press is still good.

FWIW, I wouldnt recommend starting 3 centers for a fastbreak/press. I see you use a lot of depth, which is fine, its just you need Speed and Athleticism in the lineups to be effective.  Also, in the fastbreak offense, you need ball handling and passing from your guards.

yeah my team isn't really built for the fastbreak I guess but I dont have much of a choice but to start three C's, they are my best players.
