Does anybody think it is too hard to move up to D1 or within D1?  I have been at Hawaii Pacific for 4 years and went 88-32 in my first four years.  D1 Illinois Chicago has never had a human coach and yet I am not qualified to coach there.  I am getting tired of hanging in D2 and may just quit this world.  It happens to be my least favorite because it only has one game a day.

Are you not qualified for any DI jobs, or just DI mid-major jobs?

You're a little misleading with your record at Hawaii Pacific - your first 2 seasons you were 56-7 with an Elite 8 and Second Round.  If you had the loyalty to jump after those 2 seasons you could have.  However, your most recent 2 completed seasons at Hawaii Pacific, you are 32-25 with no postseason appearances.  That is not a recipe for job advancement.

And while Illinois Chicago may never have had a human coach, simmy got them into the postseason more recently than you have been.

Yep, gotta do something with your own players right now. What would someone else think if they looked at your resume when searching for a new coach for their school? "Ok, he made the NT with somebody else's upperclassmen, and hasn't gone back since with the roster being entirely his"

Make the NT a couple times and you should be fine.

I guess that makes sense in the "real world." However, I just picked Ill Chicago as an example.  I am sure there are schools with way worse history.  I also thought that my D1 team (UT - Martin) had enough success to move up to a mid major, but apparently the free jersey I offered some kid a few years ago is still haunting me.  I guess I would make it slightly easier to make it to D1 seeing that there are so many teams without a human coach.  I would totally get it if the world was more full.

Remember- at DI recent success of the school isn't the only factor for the job.  Each DI school has a baseline prestige level, so they will still hold higher standards (ex, if Duke went 0-27 for 12 straight seasons, you still couldn't get that job as easy as a good low conference DI team.

I get what people are saying here, I do, but I feel like when we have 100+ Sim AI teams in D1, and many of them have been Sim for 20+ seasons, why not give someone like this the benefit of the doubt and let them take over?

It sounds to me like he's riding a bum reputation from a booster gift... no way to heal that but time. and yeah, you're going to have a hard time moving up til 4-5 seasons after that. (edit-- that's from his d1 team to move higher)

for the d2 team, are you qualified for any d1 jobs? or just not ones you particularly want?

Sorry, avoiding working today-

They have already nerfed getting to DII- it used to take postseason or 3 seasons to get out of DIII, now, you have to have a pulse the first season.

The person in this thread has had one RPI in the last three seasons better than 100 (99).  I know in the worlds I can't break 100 two or three seasons in a row I don't deserve to move up in.  From my experience (and memory)- it really only takes two postseason births in a row to move up to DI, maybe less.  I understand some cases, but if you can't even make the PIT, should you really be in the discussion to move up a level?
