I'm the D3 team. Yes, I know I have no chance of winning the battle.
Quick backstory. Last week I posted about the structure of my classes and the problems I might have with not having a senior class this year. Based on the feedback I thought I would try to recruit a couple of senior transfers to temporary build a class so I'd be in shape going forward. And if that didn't work, I'd have to take a couple of walkons so that I could start building the next season.
Found a decent enough senior that only I was recruiting .... until the D1 team jumped in on the player this past cycle.
The likely consequence of this is that unless some seniors get cut from rosters prior to signings is that I am going to end up with a ton of money that I won't really be able to spend (at least by D3 standards). Unless something oddball happens between now and signings, I probably could put in 25+ home visits to the player and since I lose the money if I don't spend it, I might as well go for broke.
Anybody know if that would make a dent? Like I said, I know I lose any battle but at this point I want to strike back simply for the principle that a D1 team really should do better than take players from D3 schools. (And I'm not whining, I know anything is fair game in recruiting.)
