I've got 2 decent 3rd basemen coming up in the system and I'm looking at only keeping one.  If you had to pick one, which one would you keep?

Vincente tops out at an over ranking of 80, what you see for fielding is just about his max, and he's got 10 more ticks to go vs right handed pitchers and 7 more ticks to vs left handed pitchers.  His contact tops out at 46.

Alberto tops out at an over ranking of 77, what you see for fielding is also just about his max, and he's got 9 more ticks for contact to go, and a few more tickes vs LHP and RHP.

Any insight would be very helpful, and my outfield is set for years and I have an excellent firstman also 1 to 2 years away, so moving one of them to another position is not really an option.  So I'm looking at keeping one and trading one, just not sure which way to go.

I like the 2nd guys offense better, but if you want decent 3B defense I'd get someone else.

Roughly i'd expect

1) .265 / .325 / .465
2) .280 / .365 / .450

Neither blow me away defensively, but the extra range/glove for #1 should get a few more plus plays, and a couple less errors, just about equalizing slightly lower offensive production.

For me, given how close they are, DUR would be the deciding factor. You'll have to sub for #1 him much less often than #2. I could see someone prefering the on base skills of the second guy depending on the lineup composition, but on their own merits i'd keep the first guy.

The 2nd one looks like a RFer to me.

yah the 2nd one is done improving, he has 4 pro years.  He is def a RF, and his bat is only barely good enough for a RF.  The1st one having only 2 ys might improve enough for him to be a top 5 3B in most/many worlds.   Hes the keeper in my opinion.

I like option 1, my biggest concern with him is the low contact for hitting.  Will his splits make up for that?  And yes, I know both can't field very well for 3rd, but those are the options I have right now, looking at the lesser of two evils.

#1.  Better fielder, will play WAY more innings, has some pop.

He's 22, in A-Ball and his Make-Up isn't that high.  I would wonder how much more improvement you'll actually see in him.

I would promote him quickly...AAA next year.  Give him the best coaching you can to maximize improvement.
