Faster Worlds!! Season takes too long! Topic

Basically, rebuilding a team takes at least 1 year REAL WORLD time.  That is a long time just to be competitive.  Why not offer worlds where 9 games are simmed a day instead of 3?  The season would be about a month, and make rebuilding much more attractive.

Thoughts?

Can we make all of the teams in that world rebuilding teams? That would be swell.

It doesn't take that long to be competitive.   Although, to be honest, I do think there would be a limited market for a world with games simmed every half cycle.

If you are away from the internet for the weekend, and suffer an injury, you would be screwed.

That's why the market would be pretty limited.   For those of us who are around a computer all day, M-F, it would be a nice option.    But the weekend could get messy.   A night on the town, dinner with the wife, a softball tourney, etc, etc. would cause you to miss several games.   Maybe not a big deal during the regular season but a killer for the playoffs.

I do agree that it could be attractive to some.  They eventually broke down and gave us a quicker paced world in HD, some day I imagine they'll do the same here.  I'd also suggest shuffling the sim times of various worlds.  Rather than have them all sim at (approx.) the same time, why not have a handful sim one hour, another handful the next hour, etc.. or even some have their PM cycle at 11:00est like all worlds do now, and half of all worlds have their pm cycle at 3:00est.  It could encourage some coaches to pick up another team in another world where so their sim times vary and they'd have simmed games every couple of hours.

There are so many worlds it is kind of like that now. My HJ team will sim 10-15 minutes after the hour. My J5B team will sim 45-55 minutes after the hour.

My worlds are like that as well, but imagine if one of them simmed games 2 hours later, or 4 hours later.  It would feel like you'd have simmed games all day long w/ enough worlds, rather than a bunch of worlds simmed w/n an hour, then waiting 8 hours for your next batch of games.

That's assuming people are willing to check in every 2 hours or so.   Imagine one world simming at 11 and your other world simming at 1.   You'd be monitoring your computer all day.   I think you'd find people trying to get all their worlds on the same time schedule.    I know, if i'm going out for the night, that I can plan on leaving at 8 PM EST and not miss two cycles(assuming I'll miss the 3 AM cycle).  Back that up to 10 PM(for a 9 PM cycle) and I'm still missing the 5 AM cycle.

Wow, you build your life around HBD cycles?!?  What a sad life you lead.

Who goes out on the town before 8 PM?  Your grandmother, that's who.

But I do get your point.  The fact that I THOUGHT out my post is a bit sad.    I'll re-phrase.  If I'm waiting around to do something in order to see a cycle(which I have done before leaving the house on a Saturday morning/afternoon because I know I'll be gone til Sunday night), I damn sure don't want to wait for Team 2 that is actually scheduled for 2 hours later.

Cook at 400 for ten minutes? Can't I just cook at 4000 for 1 minute instead?

Can we get better DITR's in our faster worlds?

That's a fair point, and perhaps existing worlds should only change if a league consensus or the world commish agrees to it.  New worlds they could force into different time slots.  It would free up server time as well, meaning all games that are due to sim at that time period could be simmed in under half an hour, perhaps even under 15 minutes if they spaced enough out.

If you plan to be gone for 24 hours, you're going to miss 3 cycles worth of games no matter what time the games sim.  If you miss a cylce now, but around before the 3rd one sims later, or vice versa, what's the difference?
