Defensive Ratings Importance Topic

Which of the defensive ratings do you put the most importance on?
Range
Glove
Arm
Accuracy

Is glove more important than range?  Which is more valuable in the long run....Range95/Glove80 or Range80/Glove95?

Is it better to be accurate with the arm as opposed to throwing bullets?

It depends on the position.

Depends on the position and the "average rating" that WIS puts out. I will usually give up a little range before anything else. In LF I may give up AS and AA before anything else but I try to keep at least 3 of the 4 ratings at or over the "average" which I treat as minimums.

Of course sometimes it just depends on what your options are and if you are comparing a stud hitter to a guy who has trouble hitting .225

So for your example I personaly would  take the 80-95 over the 95-80 at SS (as long as his AS and AA are good) but I may take the 95-80 guy in CF over the 80-95 guy.

They are all important, but their effect is manifested in different ways:

Range - the ability to get to balls.  Good range shows as a plus play, poor range shows as a minus play.  Balls that you get to may become outs.  Balls that you do not get to are almost always hits.

Glove - fielding the ball cleanly.  Poor glove results in errors.

Arm strength - "throwing bullets".  Good arm strength shows as plus plays, poor arm strength shows as minus plays.  For infielders, poor arm strength might be the difference between a runner beating out an infield hit.  For outfielders, good arm strength often shows itself as preventing runners from attempting to take the extra base, or throwing a runner out.

Arm accuracy - hitting the target.  Poor arm accuracy results in throwing errors.

As to what you might value more . . . that's a matter of preference based on what I described above.
