There is exactly 1 non BCS school getting pre-season votes in the top 25 poll. That team, BYU, isn't in the top 25. Now, I'm aware the top 25 poll isn't the best predictor, but since they changed the logic it has been much closer to how RPI numbers fall.

I think we can officially say DI is a 6 conference division now.

People have given up on DI midmajor because of comments like this...the reason the Big 6 conferences do better is because they are full of humans...you put 8-12 humans in a mid-major (assuming they are coaches who know how to recruit) and they'll be fine...Last season our MWC had 3 ranked teams and almost put 5 into the NT and we (I think) have only 8-humans...People dont like the way the new type of player looks and they end up complaining as a result...but it doesnt mean anything is broken.

MMT, I think people gave up because of what I mentioned, not the other way around. If you add more coaches to DI, it doesnt affect the big 6, it only further dilutes the few remaining decent players among the mid-majors. Now it's kind of a never ending circle as well because with all the big conferences owning the NT (there were a total of 6 non-BCS teams in the 2nd round and 1 in the sweet 16 last season) those conferences have so much money they can win any battle against a non-BCS team.

I believe they adjusted the recruit generation so hopefully that helps a little. I'm not bent out of shape over it, I still enjoy coaching up here, but I do finally agree that the way it is now, DI will never fill back up.

I had to take a walk-on last season to beat out a D+ Nebraska squad for a guy that might make the All-MAC team someday. You've got so few good players, average mid-major players are being targeted by BCS teams and those BCS teams have so much money, even when they're 2 full prestige levels down, they can still overcome it. I had 1k left when I finally re-overtook the lead for him, I spent about 33K on him overall.
