Outscored in a 5-game WS win Topic

You don't see that too often!

Game 1: Win 5-4
Game 2: Win 2-0
Game 3: Lose 12-4
Game 4: Win 2-0
Game 5: Win 6-4

Scored 19 and allowed 20

I can't read this post without thinking of the all time classic example of a team winning a World Series while being outscored in RL -- the Pirates winning the `60 WS in seven while being outscored 55-27. That 27th run, as I recall, was a killer.

I can't read this post without thinking that fate favors the fortunate. jfranco didn't have enough WS titles already.

how about this, LCS in the Champs league that is just now going to Series. I was playing dougpalm, who was in my division and finished 6 games back of me in the regular season. (actually 5.5 as he won the play in wild card game).

Game 1: Win 2-0
Game 2: Lose 5-4
Game 3: Lose 2-1
Game 4; Lose 4-3... now I'm bumming, but
Game 5: Win 5-2
Game 6: Win 5-3...now I'm thinking '68 Tigers, '79 Pirates, etc...

Game 7: Lose 10-0.
Ouch

It's never easy to top dougpalm in the playoffs. I haven't yet managed to do it, and I rate redwingscup as a more successful owner than I am.

Redwingscup, a very exciting series...until Game 7.  Was the home ballpark a factor in the outcome?

not really believeit... we were playing at my home park, Dodger Stadium, where I enjoyed a 51-30 season record... I only mustered 6 hits and my bullpen was knocked around good. Can't win if you can't score, LOL.

What does that pitching staff look like?
4/29/2011 8:01 PM
Very good pitching staff for an 80M league (I spent the 2nd most in the league on arms, 46M -- the offense is pretty weak, as you can see above).  Starters are Maddux 95, Peavy 07, Chris Young 07 and Tomko 98.  Relievers are good, too: Meredith 06, Hoffman 98, Heath Bell 07, Brocail 98, Linebrink 05.

The 3rd 1-0 game in the post above was 13 innings long, so the team's gone 31 innings now without giving up a run.
