First round draft pick response Topic

My first round draft pick (#22)  just sent me the following message:  Bad news, gentlemen. Mitch has decided to forego baseball this season and is exploring other options. Keep him in mind in the future, though; you never know what might happen.

I have offered him what he is asking and left the offer there the entire time.  Now that he has officially declined can I use that money to try and sign international prospects with it and still get a supplemental pick in next years draft?

Is there any chance that he reverses his decision and accepts...why else would he say " you never know  what might happen"

As long as there is an "X", he is fine.

I've never seen that happen.

As long as he has officially declined or refused your initial offer (if it shows the "X") AND it meets his original demands, you are eligible for Type D regardless of whether he comes back to the table.

OK, thanks for all the help guys.

Now; is it ok to pull the offer back or do I just go over budget when making offers to international prospects?

If he's fully declined, you don't have to pull the offer back.

The "we'll see what happens in the future" just means he could re-appear in future draft classes.

I believe that it actually means that he could possibly come back with higher demands this season.
