Pitcher velocity Topic

Hi everyone,
sorry if this has been brought up before but I've been offered a trade. A top prospect for a top prospect and this pitcher http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=3053441 

he seems to have been able to put up decent numbers. I'm currently in a battle for the top spot in the majors and wanted some depth in the bullpen. His velocity though is kind of an enigma to me. Could he handle a playoff run with that velocity?

Velocity is a modifier for strikeouts.   He looks like he's pitched just fine despite a K9 of 5.

Yes, he's proven that he can get BL hitters out.

Velocity is pretty much the ability to get strikeouts as opposed to putting the ball in play.  As long as you have a good defense behind him, he should be OK.

I'd be more concerned about his 62 vR rating.

But he has two nice pitches and a bit of track record.  80 is a pretty nice GB number.
