Question about Batting Eye Topic

If you have an elite hitter, lets say 75con\75pow\95vL\8OvR but he has a 54 batting eye, what kind of numbers would you expect

Would the batting eye take away a lot from the other elite stats, or would it just mean that he won't take many pitches

he wont' walk as much as you'd probably like

Short answer:  It's a very vague generalization that's not far off but 1 point in eye equals .001 difference between AVG and OBP.

Thanks for that, appreciate it. One follow up question, regarding splits... what do they generally represent, is it the level of pitcher they are able to perform against

Yeah, the higher the split, the better he'll be against that handedness pitcher.   Very few players can get by with sub 50 splits at the BL level.

I've of the gut opinion (no statistical analysis done) that the developers have been honest on this one (and that they know how the game works in this regard) so batting eye impacts more than merely walks drawn.

For the ratings you've provided and the way you've phrased the question, I expect you to be disappointed from that player's offensive production. His best (and only truly elite) rating is (IMO) the least important (vLH). The two most important ratings (again, just IMO) for elite hitters are Power and Eye, neither of which is elite. the vR is very good, though perhaps not quite elite. The Contact too, is solid, but not elite.

All told, you have a good above average bat there, but I wouldn't expect truly special numbers out of him without some help from the home park or dead teams in the World.

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.
I would expect eye to have an effect on strikeouts.  Taking a called third strike, for example, would clearly be influenced by the batting eye rating.

Thanks for the help guys. Since I have you guys here, I was wondering if you could help me with another question. I have been taking over a few rebuilding projects and I am doing okay with them. However, I don't really know how to start the projects, for instance trading away solid players for prospects but I don't know which type of prospects to target. Is there a specific way you like to set the foundation for your rebuilding project

Try to project your team 3 seasons from now and fill in the holes.   Guys who are defensively "locked" into 1B/LF are easier to find than MIF/CF who can hit.
