IQ's in Player Ratings Topic

What I am assuming is that a player is only as good as his actual ratings if he has an A+ or 100 at his IQ's. Is this right, or is it the better his IQ is the more his ratings are worth. I'm not sure if it is a negative or positive impact to a players ratings.

Does it really matter?

Its relative ratings, whether the A+ rises above the A's level or the A falls below the A+'s level, they are the same distance apart, seems a matter of semantics to me.

But what I'm trying to say, is that if you have a guy with a D and a guy with an A, with about the same ratings. The A guy is obviously going to do better because, "I think" that only a partial amount is taken away from his ability where as the guy with the D will not be playing at his true ability

It really doesn't matter whether you think of an A+ playing getting a bonus or getting a little taken away because the difference between an A+ and a D is the same either way. I dont think anyone knows anyway.

Put it this way: If you raise the a+ over the a by, say, adding ten percent to the a you have a 1.1 vs 1, for a difference of .1.

If you demerit the a below the a+ by multiplying it by .9, you have a ,9 vs a 1. . for a difference of .1

Essentially the same.

yeah, but what if you raise the A+ over the A by one tenth?

it's not necessarily the difference that matters, it might be the ratio, in which case .9=90% of 1 and 1=91% if 1.1

i general though, i dont think anyone knows enough about how IQ works to apply any of this info.

so basically zsap, if even if someone did have an answer to your question, it probably wouldnt help from a schematic standpoint.

Saying it makes little difference in practical terms. . you don't have specific enough knowledge to go for it, especially since the difference between a and a+ is a continuum, not two distinct single points.  Somewhere along that line it gets redefined from a to a+, but not all a's and not all a+'s are created equal.

Well I've devised some offensive and defensive ratings for each position and I want to play an IQ as a factor in them. So I use the following ranges to decide what to multiply the offense and defense ratings by. This will combine his IQ and ratings together.

D 65.5
D+ 68
C- 71.5
C 75
C+ 78
B- 81.5
B 85
B+ 88
A- 91.5
A 95
A+ 98.5

In the way I am doing it, if a player is not 100% smart with the offense or defense, his rating is made worse.

Well, try it, see how it works out, and adjust it if reality doesn't bear you out, right?

Usually means something was posted, then deleted and someone else hadn't posted yet.

I had posted something - then looked at it and it didn't really add to the discussion and it wasn't all that funny, so I deleted it...
