D3 playoffs in Allen - chalk Topic

just an interesting observation that i havent seen in my amount of time playing but the D3 Allen playoffs are following the seeding extremely close.
in the first round, higher seeded teams were 26-6.  The higher seeds to win were 9,10,11,10,12, and 9.  No big seeds getting through.
2nd round showed the higher seed going 14-2, with a 6 and a 5 making it through.
Sweet 16 had the higher seeds go 8-0, which leaves us with all 1 v 2 matchups in the regional finals.

sometimes it seemed like there were some odd upsets, but this is going the other way. anyone seen this before? or did they tweek something?

A few months ago, they reduced the variance.  This made upsets more difficult to obtain, although they still happen alot.

I see some brackets completely full of upsets and others that are almost complete chalk. One bracket doesn't tell a story.

The Allen DI bracket is the usual suspects.

there was a 16th seed going to the elite 8 in rupp D3.

I also remember seeing a 16th seed miami going to either elite 8 or final 4 in d1 last season.

the reduction of variance thing is ******* retarded. i win too much nnow. im not even kidding, it was the worst thing to ever happen to this game, there is no variance.

If that were true my career-long Sweet 16 drought would definitely NOT still be going on.

It's not too bad.  I've  split games with several teams on my schedule.   I  upset the undefeated #1 team, ending their 25-game winning streak. I also lost to them twice this season.
Before the change, a team could win by 20 and lose by 30 to the same oponent, using the same settings.

D3 Smith just did the first round -- only upset was a 9 seed beating an 8 seed. Every other bracket goes 1-8, 4-5, 3-6, 2-7.  As a six seed, I am much less optimistic about my Sweet Sixteen chances ....

I don't think more variance and more upsets is a good thing. GD implemented the new engine with "more variance and realistic results." The result was complete  disaster as teams rated 550-600 were losing to long time simai teams rated around 450. If anything, we know that WIS tends to take things to the extreme so if they do implement a more variance modification, we are going to see the top teams in every world go .500 and miss the NT.

Having gone 28-1 and lost in the 1st round of the NT to a #16 seed last season I can assure you that "variances" still exist

I lost to a #16 seed, too

Agreed, al. The swings before were totally ridiculous.
