I just completed a very good season in D3 where I had 23 wins and was able to make it to the NT and then to the Sweet 16.

I'm ready to take on tougher challenges.

What kind of job could I get?  I would like to skip D2 jobs and go straight to D1.  Can I do that and apply for job openings -- there are Big East openings that look good.

I don't think a big 6 conference is possible from DIII

No big 6 is not possible. You can get D range with a very good recent NT history and into the C schools if you have some recent NT titles but thats about it.

KU, still would like to see you up here in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference WVIAC-D11. We have some decent teams here, the competition is good, we have NT teams every year, and some great smack talk.

Straight from D3 to a BCS conference would seem to be a little much, don't you think?

That's why I created the thread.

I'm qualified to go from D3 to the Big East if I want to take over the D+ Rutgers program.  My jaw hit the flow when I saw I'm qualified for that.

Now Rutgers is a terrible program and I have a very good D3 resume.  (I stress very good, it's not excellent.)  Even if I had an excellent resume I shouldn't be able to go from D3 to the Big East.  And again, that's not my resume.

For what it's worth, I'm a longshot for C- Seton Hall and C- West Virginia.

While not a BCS conference I can also step into a few A-10 jobs if I want right now.  With no other applicants, I can take over D+ Charlotte or LaSalle although I wouldn't do that since the C- Rhode Island and St. Louis jobs are also available.

First of all, I want your username :P  Lifelong Jayhawk here, kinda worried about next season.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump over D2 if I were you, ku.  D2 has its own challenges that differ from D3 in important ways.  And from what I've read by the D1 coaches on this board, D1 right now has some real issues with balance.

I have 1 of each level school (D2 and D3), and while D3 is more relaxed and probably easier in a lot of ways, I'm having the most fun with my D2 school.  Money's a bit easier than D3, you can be more aggressive about pulldowns (at least you could before the last update, I'm about to find out if that's still true this coming week) and the players are better.

 I think you're taking a big risk that your D1 experience will be more frustrating than otherwise and perhaps disillusion you on HD.  I would think some good experience in D2 would better prepare you for the challenge.

What a joke, uglyskunk3 had a far superior resume in d3 and he couldn't even get the worst bcs job in Hawaii. And there are solid d1 coaches at mid-level schools that can't get a bcs job because they have taken on the challenge of a small time d1 program...As for the d2 experience, skip it if you can. The competition level is not all that different from d2 to d3 both are fairly easy to create regular top 25 programs in, d1 will work you harder than Rick Majerus on a rib bone.

Wow......that's about all I can say is........wow.  I definitely agree with whomever posted it earlier in the thread, hiring logic must have really changed.

you've got a very nice resume ku. go for one of those D-I jobs and have fun.

Should clarify that I'm not really looking to move at present time.  My D3 conference is awesome.

But if I did want to make the jump, I'm honestly not convinced that my resume should be good enough for D1.  I get that with the longevity it is, but I haven't had smashing success at D3 -- just success.

Being qualified for the Big East seems crazy at face value.  Even more so since my last D3 season really wasn't all that good in the context of jumping to D1.  I keep an eye on jobs each season and this is the first time I've been qualified (or even a longshot) so off the weaker season it really does seem something is off.

I agree ku, you should not be able to move from D3 to a BCS job, even one that's currently at a D+. 

Hearing that not only are you qualified, but for C level schools is definately an eye-opener. Especially since last I knew they shut that door entirely after Phelan started.

Has hiring logic changed or is the Big East just really awful in Allen?
