Forgot that I was at the third arb for this guy

He's been a very nice pitcher for me.  I blew it.

He says he won't sign long term now....Wants to go FA!

How do I keep him?

That's a bad link (Manny Huang), but I think you are pretty much SOL.
You can trade him to try to get value out of him, let him go for Type B (maybe Type A?) FA or compete for him on the open FA market.

I'm pretty sure he'll be Type A. 

but I'll probably try to sign him as an FA.

Thats one thing I dislike about HBD, you have a 2 day period to resign your 3rd year arb, if your busy or forget your screwed. Personally I think you should be able to negotiate long term during the Arb process.....In Caray world a few days ago I almost lost out on my entire team's 3rd arb players as I got home about 10-15 minutes after the cycle was going to turn over, lucky for me the cycles was running late and I got to resign my free agents.

You can negotiate long term contracts during the arb process.
