Yes, they don't follow the real life seeding rules.     

In the NCAA, you can't meet a team in the 1st round that you previously played. And I believe that you can't meet a team in the first round that you played in last season's tournament.    WIS doesn't follow those rules..

I can see it in RL....there's the revenge factor, the psychological element. But we don't have those issues here.

Thanks for the correction. It used to be a rule; I wasn't aware it had changed.

i think 08 and 09 BYU played aTm twice in a row in the first round

Actually, the NCAA's Principles and Procedures for Establishing the Bracket do make mention of this. It's not an unbreakable rule, but it is to be given consideration if possible.

Item #2 in the Additional Considerations section states: 

"If possible, rematches of previous years’ tournament games should be avoided in the first and second rounds."

You have 2 wins against top 50 teams, I think the 8 seed is pretty accurate.
