Will JUCO's accept redshirts? Topic

Im considering recruiting a 2 year JUCO.  Do JUCO's ever accept red shirts?  Thanks for the help.

Less than freshmen, but more than returning players.

You can pay for a redshirt during recruiting. Offer 4-5 HV's along with the inform of redshirt button and anyone will take it. They will say they are mad, but if they are still considering you with the redshirt informed, they will take the redshirt with no work ethic penalty every time.

In D2 and D3 that's not always affordable.

Understandable, but I've done it many times in D2, I think once in D3. It's just an option for people with leftover cash or really wanting to make sure you can redshirt the 75 WE guy with high-highs in every core so you can max him out asap, re-align years, etc.

Here's a variation on the theme:  Would a signed ineligible recruit (DII), that chose to go JUCO, rather than show up on campus, be able or likely to accept a redshirt after that JUCO year?

How is that a different question?  A JUCO is a JUCO; once it goes to the next year you don't know if they went JUCO because they were ineligible or if they just didn't get signed.  So yeah, they're allowed to take a redshirt and may or may not be willing to take one.

i've done it in DII.... he was a 3 year juco though... don't see why a 2 year guy would be any different.... IMO it's a good idea because it gets the IQ up while not losing that year of usefulness

Yup, I've seen it done a bunch and have done it myself a couple of times.
