DI prestige clarification Topic

I am new to DI and am not sure exactly how the prestige system works in the context of DI.  It may be the same as every other division but I feel like I have read on these forums that BCS schools have a huge advantage.  Is there some sort of advantage prestige wise to be recruiting from within a BCS conference?  Or does the "advantage" that I hear about come only in the fact that you will probably recieve a bunch more cash because of the typical success in BCS conferences.  An example of my question:

School A is a BCS school.
School B is a non-BCS, mid-major school

All distance etc being equal:
School A has a C prestige
School B has a B prestige
School B has the advantage in recruiting because it has the higher prestige or is there some hidden advantage because school A is from a BCS conference?

Thanks for the clarification.

General Rule: A full letter grade difference is about 1X difference in money.

So 30k for a B prestige is about 15k for an A prestige.

you are correct - all things being equal.

Thing is, like you allude to in the prelim, things are rarely equal when dealing with BCS. In Tark this season the worst BCS conference netted about $21,667 each from the postseason. The richest conference got $42,917 each. So while the effort needed adjusted for prestige and distance is the same regardless of the conference affiliation of the schools involved, the amount of effort the BCS conference (and some very successful non BCS conferences) can generate based on total $$ may be insurmountable.

The ratio is not quite that extreme IMHO, opinions vary widely.

To better understand spending ratios/ recruiting effort I strongly suggest using the forum search tool and reading back over the various threads on the subject over the past year or so - There is good stuff to be had there.

So, for clarification.  A, B prestige equals a B prestige no matter what conference you are from.  All things equal two schools with a B prestige are completely even in the recruiting battle.  The difference comes in the preceived amount of money that the two schools could dealing with.  One may have double to triple the amount.  Correct?

Also to refer to your info sportsguy:
If school A has a B prestige and I am battling against them (I have a C prestige), I should plan on spending about double the amount in order to beat him for the recruit.  (generally speaking).  Correct?

Thanks

There is no advantage to being in a BCS conference other than it is easier to get a good prestige, but a B in a BCS conference is equal to a B in the MVC or CUSA or whatever.

If you spend double you will win.  If you spend 1.5x you won't.  Beyond that its fuzzy to me.
