Improving a Player's Work Ethic Topic

A few of my targets this upcoming season for my team have low work ethics (25-40) and I was wondering all the things you can do to improve a players Work Ethic as fast as possible.

Start them and play them a ton of minutes...

Yeah, I can probably do that as my team won't be a contender for 1 or 2 more years

Sp a player with a WE of 6 can be somewhat salvageable by starting him and getting him ton's of mins right off the get go?
Is there any chance his WE can get above 20?

No.  Work ethic of 6 is not salvagable.  Anything below the high teens and you can safely assume the guy will lose stamina over the course of his career and have at most modest gains in the other ratings.

which is really sad.  there was a PF recruit in IBA with 10 high potentials and a 1 work ethic.   Complete waste of talent.  Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a way to motivate a player, say an extra practice category that allowed WE to improve as do all other stats.

My experience with low WE tells me that if the player doesn't already have high cores, it's best not to waste your time.

I signed one player 2 seasons ago who had a WE of 18.  Now as a junior his WE is up to 25 (because he's started from Day One), and meanwhile he's gained 66 points of ratings overall in those 2 seasons while other players with higher WE have gained 80-150 their first 2 seasons.  Some of that is no doubt also related to potentials but higher WE also helps with how quickly they learn your sets (off/def IQ), and from what I've seen it even helps with grades.

You'd think I would learn from that, but my current freshman class includes 3 guys with WE under 30 because I liked their cores/potential better than my other choices.

That's exactly what my problem is. Should I just promise my targets Starts because they are more than 400 miles away to help save on cash, cause my team won't compete next year, but I'll only start them in games I will defenitely lose.

if this is a true rebuild, then absolutely. I signed 4 players with starts for my rebuild, and two of them with 20min as well to win some battles cheaply.

If I'm totally rebuilding, yes promised starts have a role.  I prefer promising minutes in those cases.  But my long term strategy is to try to avoid total rebuilds.  That means my current 5-player freshman class is going to be a hassle in a few years unless one of them finally agrees to take a redshirt.

Redshirting is also one of the things low WEs hurt.  Like the PF I tried to redshirt who went from 29 to 12 until I pulled the 'shirt back off him.  Players with higher WE will still have a workable WE left over if they take a hit when you redshirt them.
