When to call up a prospect Topic

New to HBD from HD...I have a draft pick who is a potential stud...potential being the operative word. He has cores to compete for a spot on the ML roster now, but I don't want to rush him. Is there a downside to letting him play in the majors? Or should I let him cook a while in the minors?

The downside is how long you'll be able to control his salary.   BL seasons 1-3 are pre-arb years.   4-6 are arb years.   7 and beyond are FA years.   327/343/360k for his first three seasons.

So I don't run the risk of him turning into David Clyde if I bring him up now? My main concern is that I rush him into the bigs too quick.

No, he'll develop just fine in the bigs if you play/pitch him.  It's just about the finances.
