Some advice on pitchers needed. Topic

I have made the playoffs for the last two seasons barely.  My pitching staff averages a 64 ovr.  Does it make sense to try to specialize with guys who maybe lower overall but have one or two good skills (such as a 55/70 split pitcher used as a right handed specialist.)

Not much is available on the FA market at rollover and it will likely be more restricted once FA resigns are done.

Any suggestions?  By the way to see the team, i am in steinbrenner (Seattle)

Thanks.

More than any other attribute, splits cost money. If you can't afford to go after the elite pitchers who have it all, then try a combination of good control and pitches instead with a bit lower splits. Those pitchers can be effective if you have a good defense.

Or, find guys without any major flaws, and with good D you'll be fine.

I did make moves to improve my D in in season 2, but season 3 was kind of static.  (My season 1 shortstop made 80 errors, but I had no one ready to replace him).  This season I have only 1 quality hold over as a starter and 1 guy who has bounced from ML to AAA and back.  He seems to have decent numbers (although only a vR of 55, he's a lefty), but gets crushed at the BL level.  I have used him as long relief, and has a LH specialist, but he has the stamina and recovery of a starter.  It will be a couple more seasons till the young guys reach BL potential.

Look at the defensive recommendations and try to exceed them especially at 2B, SS, 3B and CF. 80 errors means you were playing somebody very unqualified for SS.

A good groundball attribute never hurts either ( the higher the number means more groundballs if you didn't know ) Low splits and bad GB = lots of HRs

Yeah.  He was unfortunately the best fielder on my team.  Season 2 I promoted a SS from AA, can't hit but is very good in the field.

At a glance, your ML pitching staff doesn't look awful.  No real stars, but in Seattle you should be in decent shape.

FWIW, it looks like you have some passable gloves for SS, 2B, and CF... but no gold glove candidates.

Less critical in a park like Safeco.

Looked at your team as well ... You have a couple nice pitchers but Sonnastine should never see the majors. Any control under 60 is pushing it unless they are lights out everywhere else

Sonnastine was a 40 man call up to give my ML guys some rest.  I had been pushing the bullpen quite a bit and needed some young arms to eat up some innings.  He will be waived (0 options) and then assigned to HiA for the season.
