What am I doing wrong? Help! Topic

Just can't figure this game out.  I seem to lose some games I should win.  I put a lot of research into my last few games and still nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think the biggest issue is that you have a bunch of SIM recruits who are not athletic nor are the strong defenders.  Simply put, the team you inherited is not very good.

As an aside - why did you only recruit juniors and seniors this season instead of freshman?  You did a good job recruiting strong players at Cal Tech the season before (I know this because you got Fischer away from my DIII team (my alias account)), so I know you now how to recruit good freshman.

The lineup you used last game is actually one of your strongest.  I'd probably run the following and hope for the best:

PG: Tilley, Stringfield, Ball, Marshall
SG: Stringfield, Roy, Ball, Marshall
SF: Ball, Roy, Cottingham
PF: Widner, Wells, Rosson
C: Brown, Rosson, Widner/Wells

I wouldn't play Barton or Hobson at all.  They aren't going to help you much.

I'm guessing you probably want to get to DI quickly since you jumped to DII after one season.  Staying at DIII for 3 or 4 seasons isn't a bad idea before jumping to DII, though.  You learn a lot about the game and your good recruits at California Tech would have helped a lot.  Best of luck!

You can't win every game you are suppose to win. There has to be some variation in the results so the game isn't purely deterministic based on ratings. In 100 games vs. that opponent, you probably would have won 85 games. In this game, the 15% event occurred. Nothing to it.

I have had my teams rated in the 500s-low 600 D3 teams lose to low 500 rated long time simai programs by 15, only to beat them by 40-50 the next 2 go rounds. It's part of the game. Even this years lowly Cavaliers managed to win 20 games, and all of them are against superior opposition.

You are right about jumping fast.  I have another account in season two in D3, which I plan on staying for awhile.  This is more of a test to learn about D2 and D1 so that's why I got the best available players.

I understand about my teams lack of D and athleticism, but I'm having the same trouble with my other team as well (losing games when heavily favored).  I understand recruiting and building a team but I want to make sure I'm not failing at gameplanning.

Sorry about Fisher, it would've been fun to see him develop.
