This sounds fishy to me.  Are they really monitarily rewarding tanking and bad play?  I will admit this I am finally seeming to get a handle on the game and in the season in question I finished 88-74 (2nd place).  Up until then I had only finished in 4th in all of my seasons.

My brother Kadenhunter received his credits for Longhaulrus. I have not. Did I miss something?

Maybe. What credits were you expecting to receive? Thanks

He got a $4.00 end-of-season credit. I am pretty sure I have always received one as well. However, I did not seem to get one this time.

Thanks.

Hi Ben,
Your franchise did not earn a credit for last season. There are some credits awarded to teams that finish in last place.

I looked at the "Help" and accoding to the chart I should have never gotten credits.

Prizes

Prizes are based strictly on the big league level and are broken down as follows:

1.World Series Winner receives 5,250 Reward Points.
2.World Series Runner-Up receives $25 in credits.
3.League Championship Runner-Up (2) receives $12 in credits.
4.Division Championship Runner-Up (4) receives $8 in credits.
5.First-Round Runner-Up (4) receives $4 in credits.
*World Series winners who used a promo code or took over a team without paying receive $25 in credits instead of Reward Points.

**Credits can only be used for future seasons of Hardball Dynasty.

Nothing listed for last place finishes.

Well, this whole thing is just who knows who. Then over here you have favoritism.

Last place teams in each division receive $4 credits.  Third place teams in each division receive $1 credits (provided they do not make the playoffs).

Dumbest thing ever.

Your brother got the $4 credit for finishing in last.  You finished second in your division but did not earn a playoff spot.  You get zilch.

That seems fair.

IN BIZZARRO WORLD!!!

I'll repeat my still-brilliant proposal for credits.

1)  Keep all the playoff credits as they currently are.
2)  Eliminate the $4 last place credit and the $1 third place credit.  They are monumentally stupid.
3)  Introduce a $2 credit for all teams that finish with a winning record but do not make the playoffs.  Reward those who are competitive instead of those who are incompetent or just plain tanking.

you got it

Their thinking is (likely...how can anyone really know?) that you're more likely to come back for another season if you finished in 2nd place, and perhaps not as likely if you finished in 4th place.  Thus the incentive to return...instead of $25, it's now $21.  Does that really sway anyone to come back when they otherwise would have left?  Probably not, especially since you can use that $4 in any other world.

So what some may call incentive to tank, WifS likely calls an incentive to return.  IOW, they know it may be incentive to tank (at least down the stretch to go from 3rd to 4th), they just don't care since that is, they perceive, outweighed by the possible renewed season.

Are you really trying to imply that there's logic behind the 3rd/4th place credit system?
6/6/2011 10:58 AM
Anyone sweating a $4 difference over 3 months probably shouldn't be playing internet games.

There is logic.   A brand new owner joins.  He is clueless but the game cost $14.95 in S1.   They inevitably suck their way to 4th.   It wasn't a lot of fun.  Now they're looking at $25 to possibly suck again.   With a $4 credit in their pocket that can only be used to play HBD, they might be enticed to try one more season.

You are right, but the system is still stupid and rewards tanking.

I wasn't really referring to you.  If they're giving them out, I want mine too.   I was referring to mhult's post saying the $4 might be incentive to return.  If the cost is that prohibitive, forking out $21 instead of $25 probably isn't a reason to play a game if you don't really like it.
