Progression After 5 Seasons & in AAA Topic

I humbly suggest that it become a little less difficult for players with five or more professional seasons under their belts, to advance in their ratings.

Also, for 5+ season players to advance while in AAA -- or what is AAA for?

That, especially for pitchers, but for position players too and especially for those with decent makeup and patience.

(Often, players that advance well in their five seasons hit a brick wall after their fifth.  Sometimes, they advance just a wee bit, a little after that, especially the pitchers.)

Presently, we get players at that stage and become tempted/coerced into bringing them into the bigs, in order to get a tiny bit of further development out of them, even if there are better players out there -- and quite a few quality big league players sit and rot in the FA ranks.

Why not just go after the better players?   I won't address the rest of this foolishness.

Nelson cruz - now 27 - think his "numbers" would be the same as when he was Desgnated for Assignment at the end of spring training in 2008? - when no one picked up his contract.  In HBD he would have had his numbers "cut" and likely would never have emerged from AAA later in the 2008 season and never would have had any advancement.

In this respect you cannot compare RL players to HBD players because the AI is different.  Maybe a combination of high patience, low temper and high work ethic could mitigate the effects of a demotion, but I am not sure it would.

Thanks TB, but I am comparing HBD to RL because it is a sim -- and so does WIS.  I am asking that the AI be improved.   I think it is clear there is fertile soil here for improvement, to make HBD more realistic (thus, more fun and thus, more profitable for WIS).

I agree there are several ways to make the game reflect nuances of RL baseball.  I wholeheartedly support MikeT23's grade system for IFA's and HS/College players.  Call it a Fog of War approach.  Scouting is the easiest way in my opinion to make a very large part of the game more interesting.  (I posted a suggestion for Focused Scouting, but from what I have learned, I am not expecting any movement on it)

With this topic / and promote / demote penalties, a way to know the temperment of your players would be useful.  For example, if you have a player that is a year or so away from really being BL ready, but you promote him due to lack of an alternative, if his makeup / temperment / maturity, were very strong, he might not have an issue with your team signing a FA for a season to make a push for the playoffs.  He would understand that this is short term, he's making BL money anyway, his clock started for arb, and maybe you could have the option of promising a starting position next season.  (kind of like the offers to FA's with a spring training invite).  If his attitude is inmature, then he may have a ratings hit that is temporary, or permanent (unless traded).  But that is most likely a long term process for WiS.

Arlen's correct.

In real life, players that have been kicking around the minor leagues for 5 or more years are gold. Gold, I tell ya!
