No seeing collage players with 18mill spent? Topic

I have 18mill spent in Collage scouting. And I can not see the #1 #6 #7 #9 #11 #12 #13 #14... Players drafted. They are all Collage players. There is something wrong with this system. I can see missing a few. But there is no way I should not be able to see 8 out of thew top 14 with 18mill spent.

Sucks

I'd place money in college scouting and forget about scouting those cutting up magazines and attempting to make artwork out of them.

First question- what was the amount of scouting college teams that picked those players had?  If they were all low in College scouting, how do you know they are studs?

Second point- you will never get to see all the best players, even with 20.

Third- how are you verifying that you can't see them?  I haven't look at the methods to do that lately, but there is a chance you are looking at it incorrectly.

This world just had its draft, and he is saying he was unable to see the guys that were drafted in those slots.  And there's a fair bit of COL scouting in that world, so most of those players are probably going to end up solid for their draft slot.

This is very unlucky; stuff happens when you play long enough.  It almost certainly won't happen to you again next season.  At 20M I typically see 75% or so of the first rounders in that category; going forward you should expect to see 6-7 of the top 10 drafted collegians, not 2 like you did.

EDIT--make sure your draft setting weren't oddly skewed in some way towards particular types of players; if you (or the previous owner) set the weights for all pitchers to zero or something weird like that, that could have caused it.

Were these the players in question?

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.

I had assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that if more than 500 players were available to you, your settings would affect which ones you saw.  With any reasonable settings, this would only affect the guys at the bottom of the draft, where you don't care.  But what if a n00b had unreasonable settings in place?

Plus, this is an assumption I have not tested.  I will at my next draft (nearest world is currently in ST).

I believe the max number of prospects you can see is 500... maybe that belief is off-base, though, but I have never figured out a way to see more than 500.

You can't see more than 500 at a time-- but I think (without being certain) that you can see a different 500 if you juggle your weights.  Could be wrong.

kcden- I can tell you for certain you can see more than 500 at a time.  I go through (AFTER the pool is generated), change all the weights to 0 except one position, and then copy all the prospects into Excel.  In my last draft (Ruth), using this method I had the ratings for 615 prospects.

As for the weights- From what I've read here (this I cannot verify as fact personally)- weights impact what prospects are scouted BEFORE the pool is generated/visible.

Quite possibly the best response I have ever seen.

I believe he meant on the screen at once, but yes.  That's how you'd do it.

No, weights affect who is seen in those first 500, and in what order.  Your budgets affect who those players you scout end up being.  If fact, in the paragraph above, you show how exactly that is true.

Of course, I might be wrong... but I doubt it.  :)
