Bemidji State in No. Minnesota was awful. States with a larger number of schools have more recruits but, also, more competition. Do a search for recruits within a state, and surrounding states, and see how plentiful they are

Texas, and grab from Arkansas, Lousianna, Oklahoma, and New Mexico as well. So many to choose from you will be able to find what you are looking for to fit your style.

My comment above is assuming that you know how to recruit and pull down, and how to properly time your actions (when to be aggressive and when to be patient). If you want to be an area with less competition so you can just go in a grab who you want, you will end up settling in alot of cases. You get what you work for, and you learn by doing. You won't learn how to recruit effectively out in the middle of nowhere.
