I have 0 active teams and wanted to see how LIVE works on this lap top but I can't find a way to get to LIVE. Help please.

start a spring training team and then when you see the beginnings of the standing constructing for the league you can click on the pllay live in black on the top of the standings

Build your ST team and put it in a private league.  You'll have about a week to play live before they make the league public and it starts to fill.  Then just pull the team back and put it in a new private league.

Or you could just go to the Play Live page, and click on the link (right side opf page) WIS put there to see whether your system/laptop will work ;)
