it matters less at D II. I think everyone agrees on that. No one really agrees on what the prestige values mean at D I (there are accepted "ranges") and no one really agrees on how much less it matters in D II, but it does matter less. Someone will say that it really doesn't matter less, just that the money involved is smaller at D II and therefore the effect is felt less, but ultimately that means the same thing just by different means.

Distance and number of ships then maybe postseason money all matter at least as much as prestige at D II IMO. If I have an advantage in 2 or 3 of those, prestige won't necessarily keep me from battle, especially if I can't find an alternative that I like.

In addition to what dac said, the big difference between DI and DII prestige is that even the D- schools see every player in DI. Not so in DII (or DIII). In DII, the higher the prestige, the more players you see. This means that a player that is a pulldown for a lower prestige school may be immediately recruitable to a higher prestige school.

so a D+ school battling a C+ school in DII is no big deal? Especially if the D+ school is a bit closer and has more open scholarships?

my conference had more postseason money as well, as far as i can tell

what are the distances? In general, I'd say that the D+ has every chance to win that battle.

ETA: Rather, where do you both fall in the delineation zones? (=<200; <370)

there's a nice price jump at 200 though, so that also works in your favor.

The recruit is only considering me now. I'm not sure if I put in enough effort to knock the other guy off his list or he just decided to look elsewhere. I doubt I spent enough to knock him off.
