Re-signing a player before rollover vs. after? Topic

If a player is willing to re-sign before rollover, is it a guarantee that he'll be willing to re-sign after rollover as well? Is there any disadvantage to waiting until after rollover to re-sign players (so I can see how his ratings change over the off-season before re-signing) vs. re-signing before rollover?

From what I was told, it is not a guarentee that he will resign after rollover. The advantage is that you get to see his ratings but the disadvantage is the risk that he won't resign or he wants more money. I'd say if you want him to resign him unless you think his ratings will really go down to not make him worth it.

No they can change their mind. I had a few guys that were willing to resign before my most recent rollover, i didnt sign them and the next season they were TYPE A FA's and wouldnt even take offers.

I had a stud pitcher that I couldn't afford last season change his mind this season on me. So yes, 100% they can change their mind.

Just keep the communication open with him and likely you two will have an understanding going into next year, regardless of whether you sign him or not.
