Family Reunion II: Moved/Theme League Classieds Topic

This forum is for returning owners from Fatboydad's Family Reunion and Pie eating Contest.

Just as last season you must first reserve your exclusive family name.  Returning owners have until Saturday morning to make their choice before I open up the league to the general WiS public.

League particulars:

$160M Cap
No AAA
Yes DH
Any stadium (not exclusive)
Standard 24-team schedule
No WW
No Trades
Injuries on
Auto-realignment
No Live requirements

Rules for Season II:

1)  Choose your family name and clone 6 family members

2)  Each cloned family member can invite one guest.  The guest must be a team mate from the same year as a      cloned family member (no twisting this season).  The guest can be from another family as long as they were team mates the same season as your clone (You may have Chipper Jones on your team if he is your clones team mate, Even if he is one of the Jones family clones).  Guests may NOT be clones (only clones allowed are the 6 family members).

3)  After all 24 owners have joined and chosen their name we will hold a one round draft in forum for the 25th player. This will be your Guest of Honor (GoH).  The draft order will be the reverse of the order you joined the league and actually chose your family name (You may reserve a spot now and name your player later).

All family names will be black listed (That means no one can have Walter Johnson as GoH if there is a Johnson family in the league).  Other than that all GoH become exclusive to the owner that drafts them.  In other words if the last owner in uses his pick to grab Babe Ruth,  no one else may have Babe Ruth on their team even if he was a team mate of one of your clones.

This will require you to think outside the box and find a new strategy.  In other team mate twist leagues you might choose the Moore family...clone Wilcy Moore...and choose Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig as your guest,  Not this season.  I am sure both the Babe and the Iron Horse will be some families exclusive GoH and unavailable for you to use.  You can almost guess at least a dozen names that will be GoH's: Mantle, Hornsby, Cobb, Lajoie.. Maddux, Mathewson, Joss.

I am looking forward to a much more competitive and diverse league.  How many times do you want to see Greg Maddux vs.Greg Maddux.

I am sure many of you will want to delay your pick until the end to get the best Guest of Honor...but will your family name still be around at pick #20?

OK, I'll go with Johnson (and  the last GOH)

Williams for me, please.

I'll stake out the Martinez family for now... although I realize that sticks me in the post-1960 era

The new rules beg one to do research before committing to this league. There are plenty of outstanding players with uncommon names for the GoH role, though, so many family names should be safe. (Safer than Johnson, Williams or Martinez, I'd think. Yet those names can produce lots of good players to clone.)

Let's make sure I have this figured out: 6 cloned Smithjones = 12 players. Each clone's teammates = 12 players. GoH = 25th player.

Yeah, the GoH rule is gonna be a real monkey wrench in the team-building, since you can't count on getting ANYONE as a teammate (well, you can make some assumptions).  For example, I'm assuming that I won't get to use Greg Maddux as a teammate (he'll be one of the first few GoH invited).  It makes for a really tentative initial build.

O.K. I divorced Ida Mae Collins and have remarried to Lulabelle Wilson, so I will be organizing the Wilson Family Reunion and Weiner Roast this season.

I have no objections if anyone wishes to court my ex-wife and her family.

One  thing to remember - none of your guests can be clones - you cant have Bonds as a guest of Joe Smith, and Bonds again as a guest of Frank Smith, or again as a guest of your Joe Smith clone

I doubt ANYBODY will have Bonds as a regular guest, since he'll likely be someone's GoH.

Yeah, It will be a whole new ball game once we find out which great players aren't GOHs.  Maybe we'll see a lot of Tudor, Tiant, Joe Jackson, Delahanty or Bretts.

O.K., everyone who's holding back can join now. My team is ready to go, including Guest of Honor draft strategy.

I am still researching names. I had a team drafted  but it has too many GOH canidates.

Although I took a beating in season one of the picnic affair, I will come back with Thomas.

And, I'll comeback with Jackson.
FIVE was not enough but a sextet will be just right.
