I've got the 16, and if I read it correctly, I can sign a Type A and not lose the pick, right? I'd lose my 2nd? Or would I lose my comp pick?

You will lose picks starting with your 2nd round pick.

To add to that, if someone in the top 16 had a type D compensation pick pushing you to the 17th overall pick, you'd still keep your first round pick since your original pick was in the top 16.
