Individual Settings Topic

I would like to see settings for each individual player include Base Stealing, Base Running Aggressiveness & Hit And Run. It would give us better control of our offense.

+1, whats the point of being agressive on the base paths and paying 1st and 3rd base coaches if even your slow guys are trying to take an extra base, just so you can get your settings to be right for your fastest guys.

Here's thr problem with individual setting for base stealing and base running . . . people would adjust them such that only the guys with the 95% success rate would try to run.  The slower guys would never run.  So then you would have worlds with 95% base stealing success, and then people would complain about how unrealistic that is and demand that it be fixed.

Be careful for what you ask for, because you might not like it once you get it.

To illustrate an example, I can easily see "complaint" threads, or tickets, along these lines:

My catcher has great arm strength and arm accuracy.  For the past couple of seasons, he's been consistently throwing out around 40% of runners attempting to steal.  Now, he can't throw anybody out.  What gives?  THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!!

Coaches have no effect on actual gameplay.  IOW, your high-priced 1B/3B coaches aren't sending runners.  It's determined by BR and settings.

Good counterpoint, hadn't considered that the bell curve would be inverted.  I guess if your looking to run more, in the context of the game engine, you should draft fast guys with high baserunning awareness, they will 'automatically' be more agressive than a standard 'catcher type'

Or the reverse? I won't beat a dead horse, but really, how about just looking into the whole SB engine overall? It's not right now, it wouldn't be right under many discussed scenarios, but I find it hard to believe there isn't room for improvement somewhere....other games (i.e. OOTP) seem to be able to hanlde individual settings fine, even in iPod versions of their games.

Didn't know that, though it doesn't surprise me.  I'd like to see 1b & 3b coaches have some impact on the success rate of your guy taking "the extra base"
