A JUco with two years of eligibility left, who knows both my offense and my defense.  I figure that he should help my biggest weakness right away by adding ATH, REB and DEF to the post over last year's team.(High potential in speed, defense, perimeter and passing)

i think if it's self evident to you personally that he should start, then it's odd you're posting for opinions about it here....

that said, i agree with you.  he becomes the best player on your team the second he walks on campus, and it's not even really close.

Just because I find something self evident, doesn't mean that everyone does, and someone disagreeing with me gives me something else to consider.  I've changed my mind before due to a disagreement, so. . .

if it were even close, i could understand that...but there is literally 0 argument that anyone could make that this guy shouldn't be starting for you

If he didn't know your system there might be an argument.  I'd probably still start him.  If he knew only your defense I think there'd be no question.  With him knowing both I doubt any coach would even bother playing devil's advocate.  If you had other really strong starters and needed a big gun off the bench there might be something to think about...  But again, here, obviously you go with the guy.  And be sorry you got him with only 2 years left of his services.
