Not even sure if this is the right forum but I guess this one is as good as any.  I've upgraded to Internet Explorer 9 a little while back and I'm have some problems that might, or might not, be easy fixes.

One of them is inserting hyperlinks, pictures, or anything that generates a pop-up box.  The screen freezes and fades when the pop-up appears.  Refreshing doesn't help.  So far the only thing works is closing the tab or going back.

I'm sure it's a setting I have to change.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  Thanks in advance.

On your address bar, to the left of the refresh icon there is a small icon that looks like a sheet of paper called "Compatibility Mode". If you click this, the page will refresh in this mode and it should fix all of the problems you are facing.

Thanks frazz!  Didn't see the paper icon, but I did find Compatibility View in Tools.  Adding WIS to the list seems to have fixed it.
