promises / improvement Topic

i took over a team that was coached by simmy for too many seasons. one of my 3 signings (not including my rs signing) was promised start / 15 mins pt. the other two were not promised anything. all 3 have been starting and averaging between 17-21 minutes. the improvement for the two non-promised players is significantly higher than for the player who was promised mins/start. is this a coincidence or does a player who benefits from kept promises not realize as much improvement?

Without knowing any of the players' potentials, it's impossible to comment specifically on this.

That said, generally speaking, there is absolutely zero connection between kept promises and a player not realizing as much improvement.

Rye has more highs than speirs, and by the looks of it, more high-highs. He has also played more minutes. Fulfilling promise has no impact on growth, but playing time does.

I was so ****** off when I saw you got on Rye!  No way to compete with you only 10 miles away.   I can't wait to play you the first game next season.

I think the answer is the difference between low-high & high-high categories.  My guess is that McLeod's WE is getting him the big improvement with minutes this season and Rye is just a flat-out beast in the making.  I don't know about Speirs, but my guess is that his lower WE is holding him back from developing as fast.  BTW, why are you ignoring LP on these guys?

i'm working under the assumption that lp won't help guards (mcleod and speirs) and with rye having an 11 lp, i don't know how much it will help having him go up 20 pts. maybe its my inexperience with playing higher than diii (1st season @ dii). should i be refocusing next season (i.e., not leaving any high potential on the table)?

why are you working under that assumption? LP is a factor in all shots inside.

Darryl,

Low Post is very important on any shots in the paint. Other ratings, such as Ball Handling have an impact as well, but Low Post and Perimeter are the most important when determining scoring ability.

2 reasons: 1st, when I started playing hd, lp had no impact outside of the sf, pf, c positions. I took a long sabbatical and it appears that this has been chanhed. The other reason is that I see way to many big time scorers who don't have high or even decent lp or per and seem to rely solely on their ath/spd.

fair enough - that is true that lp has changed. guards with good per can still score, but guards with lp are even more effective. Since they all have high potential, I'd try to develop it, as long as you've got minutes to go around.
