being a player's favorite school.... Topic

How much weight does it hold? Can you be a really high ranked player's favorite school and still have no realistic shot of getting him over the elite programs?

I do not think it has much weight at all

The answer to your first question is that the answer to your second question is "yes".  It matters, but it won't win you a battle unless all else is even.

It probably has the value of 1 visit would be my guess.

It's probably a multiplier and carries a weight of somewhere in the neighborhood of 3% or so, would be my best guess.

I agree with professor. 3% can end up being a big deal when you get into these big D1 battles where each school is spending over 50k.

So a mid major who has a top 15 sg as their favorite school should probably not count on him then I take it?

If this was changed this made more significant would that even out the imbalance in recruiting DI coaches are always talking about? Give the 'favorite school' an A+ rep w/the recruit and make the 'favorites' effort x2. Middies could pull down some major recruits that way.

That'd be unrealistic, though, garger - a blue-chip recruit turning down Michigan State for Dayton should be very, very rare.

And yeah, mrgsport, don't do it with just a C+ prestige.

I think its worth more than 3%, but its not worth 30%.  I think it is worth about 1/3 grade of prestige.  Like B vs. B+ or so.  I was in a very large D1 battle ~$45k on one side and $55k on the other and I am pretty sure its worth about 10-20%.  But its not going to make a C school have to spend less than a B- school.
